You know the "Fighting Irish".
The Sisters of the Holy Cross were the second French congregation to set down roots in the northern Indiana frontier. They are part of a three-branch tree -- Fathers, Brothers, and Sisters -- founded by Blessed Basil Moreau. If the reader will pardon me for using a page from the Holy Cross Fathers, they can explain their foundation -- and post-nomials -- better than I can:

Once the Sisters arrived in Indiana, they provided domestic services for the Fathers and Brothers. They also established St Mary's College for Women. Those buildings are part of the University of Notre Dame campus, and were recently sold to the same. The St Mary's College half of the campus can be seen in this photo, which is part of the property sale dispatch:

The university's famous building with the Golden Dome is off to the right, out of the picture. The picture shown in Dehey included the structures of the Golden Dome.
The Spirituality of the Holy Cross congregation is based on the Twelve Virtues:

This author has been under the impression that the Congregation of Holy Cross is Ignatian. Please leave a comment if that is incorrect.
